Stamford Auction announces a special two day summer auction featuring over 40 lots previously unoffered from the private study and home of Andrew Carnegie. These items were acquired by a longtime personal assistant, who was employed in both the United States and Scotland and was given the property upon the dispersal of the estate. Included are a Tiffany Studios Lamp, a collection of tiffany glass, artwork including oil on canvas by George Wattles Waters still life depicting peaches, a concertina games table and ephemera . The contents of the Andrew Carnegie’s private study, along with the contents of a Freddie Victoria decorated Fifth Avenue apartment will be offered on Monday and Tuesday August 1st and 2nd. The Fifth Avenue apartment, decorated by noted designer Freddie Victoria features a Directoire breakfront and an exquisite antique Regency center table along with other period antiques and fine decorative home furnishings. Also featured a J.G. Brown oil on canvas, a Bob Thompson mythological scene in mixed media, a Henri Matisse etching, as well as works by Lucien Genin, Arthur Davies, Henri Julie, Alphonse Quizet, Jerome Myers, Jules Briton, Ivor Rose and Jon Corbino, among others. The auction begins Monday August 1st at 6:00pm, and the second session will continue on Tuesday August 2nd at 6:00 PM. Preview will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 30th & 31st from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Monday & Tuesday August 1st & 2nd from 11am to the start of the sale.
