Braswell's Stamford
Auction announces the sale of select property from the
Sky Club. The Sky Club, founded in 1963 by a group of prominent businessmen, is a private
dinner club with breath taking views of Grand Central Station and Park Avenue. Located on
the 56th floor of the Met Life Building the club counts among its founding members
Colonel Edgar Garbisch (1899-1979), his wife Bernice Chrysler (1907-1979), and Jaun
Tripp, founder of Pan-Am.
Stamford Auction
will be selling club property, featuring a Boston Federal tall case clock with
rocking ship movement, an ivory and bone model of the USS Consititution circa 1820, a fine
pair of Quing Dynasty screens inlaid with jade and exotic hardstones, and an extensive
collection of fine English and American pewter wares. The property for auction was gifted
to the club by Colonel Garbish and Bernice Chrysler who were world travelers and well
known collectors. In addition, fine furnishing, architecture and decorations from the club
will be offered.
The property will be
auctioned at the Sky Club on Monday, January 23rd at 12:00 PM.
Due to limited access and security requirements, bidding for all non-club members will be
limited to absentee and eBay live bidding. All absentee and phone bids must be entered by
Saturday, January 21st at 5:00pm. Preview will be open on Friday, January
20th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm by appointment only. For preview reservations and absentee
